Birch Creek, Idaho

This is a RARE Trumpeter Swan that was nesting on the banks of Birch Creek, ID in the early spring. She allowed us to approach to within about 25 yards. We took a few photos, then she decided to leave and we got this photo of the takeoff. We left without disturbing the nest.

This is Birch Creek, ID in the spring (April).

This is not a bird, but we thought it was very cool to see elk down by Birch Creek, so we took a picture.
This is a birdhouse installed by Idaho's Fish and Game Dept on the fence near the headwaters of Birch Creek. The birds nest in this house every spring.
This Mountain Bluebird was sitting on the fence near Lone Pine, ID in the Birch Creek drainage (April). Interesting note: THIS IS IDAHO'S STATE BIRD!!
